Curbside Pickup

Modesto offers Christmas tree recycling this season, and trees are collected right at the curb. This is the way to get rid of your tree without hauling it anywhere. Check the city's own page for pickup dates and any cost before you set your tree out.

How Christmas Tree Pickup Works in Modesto

Modesto collects Christmas trees at the curb, so you do not need to take your tree to a drop-off site. Set your tree out where city crews can reach it for pickup. Before you do, read the city's preparation rules, because some trees cannot be collected. The city's page has the full details on pickup and cost.

How to Get Your Tree Ready

  • Remove all tree stands, rods and tinsel.
  • Cut trees in half if they are more than 6 feet tall.
  • Trees with flocking, paint or fireproofing cannot be composted and will not be collected by City crews.
